FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to the questions our customers most frequently ask when installing Halstead’s self-stick vinyl tiles.

Q: Is it important to acclimate the tile to the room in which it will be installed?
A:.Yes, for best results store the tile at room temperature of at least 65° F for 48 hours before installation. Remove the tiles from the carton and stack in small piles. Be sure the subfloor is also at least 65 degrees.

Q: What sub-floors are recommended?
A:.Plywood, concrete and vinyle floors that are down tight are recommended. DO NOT INSTALL the floor over chip board or particle board.

Q: Can I install Home Depot self stick vinyl tiles on a floor that is below ground level?
A:. Yes, but ONLY if TrafficMaster Pro Basement Proofer is used to prepare the concrete before laying the tile. Vinyl tile can not be laid on top of a preexisting tiled floor below grade.

Q: Should I use a regular floor primer before installing my tile?
A:.Only when installing over concrete.

Q: Can I wax my floor?
A:.No. We recommend using Halstead hi-sheen or matte finish to protect your floor.
